What will we be doing?

In July a group of 8 people will be travelling from Plume Avenue Church to visit the ChristCo churches of Nakuru in Kenya for two weeks.

All of our young people will be exposed to the church in action in Nakuru and the surrounding area. We have been asked to get involved with the local church run school to plan games and teach some English. Working in the school in Kamwaura will help our young people understand the privileged background that they have as well as help them to discover new gifts and give them responsibilities in leadership and public speaking.

As well as the school our young people will have the opportunity to observe the ongoing work of a rural, church run medical centre in Dundori. The medical centre has a maternity unit, a dental unit and it also provides an ongoing general practise for treatment of malaria and other medical conditions.

The final area of work our young people will be exposed to is the life of the local church. Each day we will visit different churches and meet some of the young people from those churches and wider communities. Our young people will have the opportunity to listen to their peers and discover what it means to be a Christian in such a different culture to our own.
